As far as I can see, yes it will give turn by turn instructions and is compatible with cadence sensors.
I think TD list products previous riders have used (Gabes would know) do they do a similar thing with your event?

I tried my HCx and it does give turn by turn directions though it chose to send me down the A40 from Paddington until I set it to Cycling and then it chose some weird back route. So, it might work for getting me out of a bind but I'll need to test it using a pre-defined course/track. The bike mount is a pain to get onto my bike though - no room on the base bar so it'd have to be shimmed to hell on the aerobars and it rattles like a bastard. Mind you if I had the Exe-Buzzard routes on it, I might've been able to get unstuck when the 800 died.

Are they similar to the Edge in that you can wack a track on them and then it will give turn by turn navigation? Or can I add a GPS track to them and at least have a line to follow on roads? They'll not log any ANT+ data will they? Seems the etrex are much more reliable units but lack a lot of what makes the Edge better. If they could just make reliable Edge devices...
