Moyes bought Mirallas, just for pedantry's sake. Disappointed if we lost him and Nais. Mirallas never seems to have won the fans back after missing that penalty he shouldn't have taken against west brom last season, even though when he actually gets played he's generally very good for us and was our best forward before lukaku hit form. Naismith is a far better player than anyone gives him credit for. Slow and ageing, but intelligent and a surprisingly good finisher. Would gladly keep him over Kone.
But if Martinez hadn't come on board you wouldn't have lukaku, mirallas, defoeleu (sp), cleverley (has he done anything apart from score that last minute goal).
Doesn't his attacking footballing good outweigh the defensive ills? He wants to play attacking possession based football, that's what you signed up for when he came on board, so not much point in crying about defensive failings at this point.
Maybe Martinez isn't a manager to get you challenging for stuff, maybe he's one of those that improves you to a certain point, lays attacking foundations and someone else comes in and takes you forward that final step or two.
