  • Trust me, Naismith has done fuck all this season(Chelsea hat trick aside). Fuck me, if Kone can get a start ahead of you for most of the season it really is time to leave.

Martinez is our main problem, has been for most of his time with us.

We are now basically Wigan but with Lukaku. I mean that not in the sense that we have shit(ish) players like Wigan but that we are leaking goals like they did. It's common knowledge he doesn't train the defence or work on set pieces and it shows. We've conceded the most goals in The Prem from set pieces this season and third worst defence in the league, it's not good enough.
We have the players to beat any team on their day but Martinez is the weak link

  • aren't we missing the main point here - Β£8 million for fucks sake

  • I know right! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°πŸ’°

  • ...Tim Howard has also gotta go, he's been wank for 3 seasons now

  • Mourinho is up for grabs. He's known for drilling defensive duties into players.

God knows what went wrong for him at Chelsea.

  • Well you were contradicting yourself as you're telling us he's not the straight up guy everyone thinks he is off the pitch, which is not judging him by his football, tho you have put that right now. He is an average player with a good shot and a big physical presence, and he'll be exactly what you will want back when Lukaku realises he's going to have to move on if he wants to win anything in his career.

We are now basically Wigan but with Lukaku

And soon you'll just be Wigan. Unless Martinez shows intent to progress he's not going to keep a player that would be in the starting 11 of any of the top 4. I'm not saying this to taunt you cos I'm sure you think this too. We saw it when Wenger lost RvP to ManUre and I never held it against RvP. He had 2 decent years left in his career and knew Wenger wasn't going to build a team that could mount a serious challenge within that time. Of course I'm not going to restrict myself to judging the slimy little turd only on his excellent footballing ability.

  • " a one-man blue-sleeved gegenpress"

  • Been in the wilderness since Sunday so haven't tweaked my team, think I'm going to swap out a striker and an attacking midfielder, need to find that next big thing..

  • But if Martinez hadn't come on board you wouldn't have lukaku, mirallas, defoeleu (sp), cleverley (has he done anything apart from score that last minute goal).
Doesn't his attacking footballing good outweigh the defensive ills? He wants to play attacking possession based football, that's what you signed up for when he came on board, so not much point in crying about defensive failings at this point.
Maybe Martinez isn't a manager to get you challenging for stuff, maybe he's one of those that improves you to a certain point, lays attacking foundations and someone else comes in and takes you forward that final step or two.

  • Everton will not progress until there's a change of owners.

  • ^This.

And that ain't gonna happen in a hurry.

  • They need a new stadium as well..

  • Whatever happened to the AsdaDome?

  • @cornelius_blackfoot - Well that definitely isn't going to happen quickly either.

  • New sponsor.
    New manager.
    New defence.
    New owners.

Sounds like they should change their name to Theseus FC.

  • I wonder if Mike Ashley's got any spare change?

  • Maybe Martinez isn't a manager to get you challenging for stuff, maybe he's one of those that improves you to a certain point, lays attacking foundations and someone else comes in and takes you forward that final step or two.

  • Agree completely. Any Evertonian who doesn't think that Lukaku will be fucking off in the Summer(unless we get CL, which is now looking more unlikely) they must be mad
Stones has already got a Β£50m deal agreed in principle with Barcelona and I could also see Coleman, McCarthy and possibly Barkley fucking off too. Martinez has to be held accountable for fucking up our best set of players and potential for 30yrs

  • Anyone coming through your academy/youth set up?

  • Yep, some cracking youngsters - David Hennen(Belgium u21 winger), Mason Holgate(the next John Stones), Connor McAleny and Luke Garbutt who both played for the first team last season(now both on loan), Tyias Browning(played first team this season but just had op and out til next season), Conor Grant, Ryan Ledson both on loan and doing well

I think we're top of the Prem Reserve league too so all rosy

  • I guess it's a case of capitalising on players when you're made absurd offers for them and bringing the youth through soon enough to blood them for future campaigns.

  • Remy to Villa on loan?

What's the point? What a waste...
