Yes, you might need to let a little air out to squeeze it past the canti bosses depending on the width of the rim and stuff...

I posted about my upcoming 29er project in the current projects thread, when tester pointed me here, so I'm basically reposting here.
Hello dear fellow forumongers. It's been a while since my last build and in fact I've never built a mtb. I think the time has come, but I could surly use some advice. I think I have a slight idea of what I want, but very little knowledge of mtb parts on the market and compatibility etc.
Eventually I will be riding the bike mostly in the Netherlands on single-track trails varying in technicality, but nothing extreme and no serious elevation.I very much like the idea of a 29er, so that's what I'll be building around. Hardtail it is, but I dont know if I want a suspension fork nor why I should or shouldn't go for one. The frame material is debatable, but I have much loved carbon in the past and I've always wanted a titanium build, so it will probably be one of either. However, if there are great steel options available I'm open to suggestions.
The country where I live being relatively flat (read flatter than the Nevada salt flats) I will be opting for a single chainring upfront, but as the trails can actually get bouncy down here I will want some gears in the back. I have absolutely no idea what my options are regarding such a drivetrain and hope to get some advice there. Then there are the brakes. There are so many options. All I know is that I want hydraulic disc brakes, but what type, size or brand I don't know. And wheels... I haven't the slightest clue. Something not too heavy. As for my budget, well, that is debatable. As cheap as possible is always nice, but if it turns out to become the bike of my dreams I wont mind saving up some cash money to realise that dream.Any help and advice is very much appreciated. shimano xt brakes, cranks, clutch rear mech and shifter will work well, then get a narrow wide or thick thin chainring
lots of ti mtb frames, lynskeys are a reasonable starting point (not the highest grade of ti but generally well made and have been around for quite a while)
hope hoops with stans rims would be a good bet for a wheel set
am practically describing my own 29er
ti lynskey frame (sliding dropouts so can be set up ss too), xt 2x10 drivetrain, stans rims on chris king hubs, chris creek headset (chris king top, crane creek bottom) sid world cup fork... have been thinking i ought to sell it

Usually DJ is trolling, but today he's trying to be helpful.
Personally I prefer SRAM drive trains, but there's clearly nothing wrong with Shimano XT.
Narrow/Wide chainrings are a modern design specifically for single-chainring drives, and are claimed to reduce the possibility of the chain falling off.
If you really don't know what you want, you would probably be best off picking a ready made, it will be cheaper and you can change the things you don't like once you establish what they are.

NW and TT are two names for the same thing, depending on brand.
So long as your single chainring has an even number number of teeth and your chain doesn't have any halflinks, you can guarantee that a tooth that meets the inner plates of a chain will always meet inner plates (unless the chain drops). This means that every other tooth can be even wider than a normal SS chainring's teeth. The benefits are that you don't end up with alternating clean and dirty teeth as you would with an even-numbered SS ring, and also when you're at the extremes of chain angle, having the wider tooth in between the wider plates reduces the risk of the inner plate hitting the top of a tooth rather than going either side...

Would the SRAM GX 11 speed groupset be the equivalent to Shimano's XT M8000 1x11?
Either look like something I could build around. Those Hope chainrings do look very sexy as well. I'm going to have to consider one.

I've been using a Superstar ring on my SSMTB since I built it, no problems, quite cheap.
Also worth trying Uberbike, and in the more spendy section, Wolftooth, Hope, Blackburn etc.

Affordable is relative.
Do cheap ti frames exist? Yes...but it's not a great road to travel as both the raw material and the skills to fabricate it are not cheap, in contrast to steel.

That frame certainly looks like something I would ride, but some things have to be sorted first.
MTB sizes are hocus pocus to me and I am in no way capable to come over and check it out, living in the Netherlands and all. I am 182cm (excuse the metrics, from the top of my head it should be about 5'11") tall, with probably slightly longer than average legs. No idea if such a frame would fit me, but from a quick glance at the geometry I think it would or be slightly too big for me. How tall are you and how did it fit you?
Then theres the next, also quite important, issue: cash monney. I don't currently have the money to justify that frame + shipping across the small side of the pond, nor do I know if you're even up for doing so. I'd need time to scavenge the wastelands and save up.
Next issue, I dont yet know how I would build the frame if it would become my possession. Neither do I know the possibilities it offers. If you scroll up a bit you can read what kind of build I have in mind. Should be possible right?
All in all, this is nothing even close to a dibs, but I'd appreciate it if you could inform me a bit more about the sizing and possibilities of the frame. Pics of the built up bike would also be great. And lastly, what's the reason for selling such a beauty?

depends which frame and which tyres I think. smaller + (2.8") tyres are usually ok, this is what they were designed for.
SW London covers a multitude of sins, depending on which railway you're near you could have easy access to Swinley (via Martins Heron) or or Surrey Hills (usually via Dorking). The Let's off Road thread is more likely to provide comprehensive answers.
