oh you
I hadn't even started on why he thinks light weight is an attribute to chase in a track fork, or why he thinks there is even such a thing as a track fork now that most track frames share geometry with their road cousins.

Thanks tester
I found a second place but yes no black and weird listings (10 pieces cost more than 10x single spokes)

These bontrager replacement spokes look like DT new aero:

No matter how tight I screw the QR Skewer on my rear wheel, the wheel flexes in the dropouts by around a cm in each direction. How can I fix this - new skewers or is something else amiss? Recently replaced bearings.

Cheers for the info.
Why do bike companies offer carbon, aluminum and steel track forks if weight does not matter? Marketing bullshit?
The reason why I thought 'there is even such a thing as a track fork now' is because so many places offer 'track' and 'road' versions of forks.

I had this when the dropout was worn so that the quick release was clamping on the end of the axle rather than on the dropout, the axle protruding very slightly on the dropout. A quick file on the end of the axle to shorten it a fraction fixed it.

new skewers or is something else amiss?
You need to look at what is moving. Just the rim? Try rebuilding the wheel. The rim and the hubshell, but not the axle? Bearings are fucked. Everything including the axle? The QR isn't working. Sometimes this can be due to an over-long axle stopping one or both ends of the skewer from clamping the dropout to the lock nut. If you have just replaced the bearings and this problem is new, have you got equal amounts of axle sticking out past the locknuts on both sides?

Why do bike companies offer carbon, aluminum and steel track forks if weight does not matter?
Because customers think that weight matters :-)
Carbon (done properly) is stiffer, stronger and lighter than the others. These are all good things, in that order. It's also more expensive, which makes room for steel and aluminium further down market.
Some people offer "track" forks with no brake hole. This is pretty pointless, as the brake hole is doing no harm if you don't use it, and having it there makes it much easier to ride your track bike on the road should you so desire.
A few people with old-fashioned frame geometry offer "track" forks with less offset to provide reasonable trail in the face of steep head angles. This is fine if you're stuck with one of those frames.

Just replaced bearings but problem isn't new. Thought bearing change might fix it but to no avail. Will check what moves. Ta.

What'd be more aero overall- a 38cm bar or a 42cm aero top bar?
-
• #73141
probably too many variables given in the question to answer this one. book some wind tunnel time and come back with the answer(s)

aero bars (cervelo) save ~7.7 W at 30 mph.
4cm narrower bar saves ~1.2watts
hands/arms closer together saves ? :)Internet aero-fitting is an exact science...

Cycling shoe stench, what can be done about it? My boots have become quite foul after a few soakings over Christmas.

Activated charcoal or sodium bicarbonate or burn them with fire.

Might as well just put myself in the hipster thread for asking this, but what is the best make of racks (front and rear) for fixing wine cases to?
I've got a couple of cases which are in pretty good nick, too good to throw away or put in the woodburner.
One is porteur rack size, and the other is a bottle smaller. -

I have a wine box on my beater attached to a Basil front rack.
My method of securing the box was copper plumbing clips, and the combined weight is infinity tonnes.

Bwahahahaha! I agree! "Constructional Art" innits? Thats nuthin'.... you wanna see what I've built in the past to get a specific 'sound' HiFi-wise in my house.... and then there was the 3ft high 24 ft long Mini ramp with scaffold coping so I could learn Rock Fakies and Rock n Rolls in my mid 40's... I like a good project me I do :)

Forum kinda slow in the last day?
Is for me.
Recommendations for a light weight steel track fork 1 1/8th? doesn't need to be drilled for brake
