"To get a decision wrong like that so late in the game makes you feel furious and is unacceptable."

Any one else want to add their considered opinion to the debate? Arnautovic Penalty
Also, FWIW my view is that Joselu hugs Clattenburg, not the other way round.
For the record, I don't expect Pisti to see eye to eye with me on this today.
After this incredible example of predicting the future, I guess now is the time to buy a lottery ticket.

If that was at the other end, and not been given, he'd be screaming blue murder.
Stonewall penalty. Stones went to ground too easily, gave Arnautovic the opportunity to go down.

I know it went our way today, but I like to believe I'm consistent on this one, I hate the "He touched the ball", therefore it wasn't a foul line that pundits seem to take.
@b&d Feeling better now? Were you actually there? If so, when do you go back?

Much, thanks.
I've watched West Ham on and off for a long time, but I can honestly say that the first 45mins were among the worst halves of football I've probably had the misfortune to see.
Changing personnel for the second half changed everything - more energy, more enthusiasm and more pressing. They still looked a bit shonky towards the end, but Carroll drew the attention of Southampton's defence and WHU were able to capitalise.
Quite looking forward to MOTD later.
I'm still waiting for the passport office to send me my new documents. Useless fuckers.

Errrr...if he got the ball first(as he did) isn't that his job? He got the ball then matey milked it and fell over him...
Any other ref would've left it but no, not that cunt.
-
• #122408
The ref we had was shite. Blind to half of their challenges and only played our advantage once.
And he couldn't tell the time.

Quite looking forward to MOTD later.
Not as much as I am!!
TBH, things are pretty good at Upton Park at the moment. Even the 0 - 0 I went to a few weeks ago was the best 0 - 0 I've seen for a while.
Can't say I was that happy when you managed to get your noses back in front though, the scrap for places in the Premiership is probably as open as I've ever seen it.

if he just slid in and took the ball, thats fine, but his other leg swings round after which makes it look like he's taken him down afterwards. weak penalty, but a sloppy tackle .
-
• #122412
'Sloppy tackle' WTF does that mean??!
HE GOT THE BALLLLLLL!!

I'm still waiting for the passport office to send me my new documents. Useless fuckers.
Does that mean you may be on for a West's sometime, we were discussing doing a monthly one..

Sure, he touched the ball but that touch didn't put the ball far enough from Arnautovic for the subsequent action (taking him down) not to have been relevant.
Slide in like that and get enough of the ball that it goes out of play or to another player and it's fine as what happens after the touch isn't relevant (as long as it's not violent conduct).
Slide in like that, just glance the ball as he did, then take out the player that could have run onto it had they not been taken down = always a chance of a penalty.
Just touching the ball doesn't excuse any subsequent actions. In that respect, it was a sloppy tackle.

I'm going to weigh in and say that I think a penalty was the right call.
I'd be annoyed if it was given against my team, as Stones does get the ball but he fouls Arnautovic in the process as the ball is on the Arnautovic's left side and stones takes his standing leg in getting to the contact. That's a foul anywhere on the pitch and a silly place to tackle like that anyway

• #122416
We played shit today for most of the game but some moments of quality from Ozil got us through
-
• #122417
I swayer to gawd I never bet on a Leicester win the other day.
Just thinking of it was enough.
However... I have no idea who they are even playing next and when they might be playing it.
Come on Leicester. -
• #122418
Just thinking back a few years and how I'd never look forward to Everton vs Stoke on MOTD whilst also expecting Man U v Chelsea to be a shitshow
-
• #122419
Shearer said it was no pen and he's always in favour of the strikers
-
• #122420
Penalty. And good decision by the ref . Touching the ball doesn't end the story. Prevent the striker from getting into the ball in such a position and you are fucked. Poor defending. Bad decision making by Stone . Stays on his feet and that's no goal. What is it with Everton defenders and playing for England ? Banes/ Jags also turned shit .

Inflammatory.

• #122422
Fuck football. After West Ham I thought we'd turned a corner and there was still a chance of escape.
All over now. Bin off the rest of the season - play some of the kids and give them some experience ready for the championship.
Really sad.
-
• #122423
Earlier on I got a portion of what West Ham served up to your lot last week.
I was with the old man and he was facepalming profusely.
Just watching Villa now and they looked even more shambolic than we did.
-
• #122424
How's Antonio doing now that he's getting on the pitch?
-
• #122425
He's a beast once he gets going.
That cheating, corrupt Kopite cunt Clattenburg up to his usual tricks again. Never a fuckin penalty. The crowd knew it, Stones knew it, Martinez knew it.
Why oh why we ever agreed to The FA lifting the ban on the cunt after 'that derby' I'll never know. Hope we make another appeal to ban the cunt for another 5 years
And WTAF is this about, hugging players after awarding the pen!!?
