MTB I've read about a lot, though I think someone, somwhere, in the dark hinterlands of the net might have mentioned CX...

Ah I getcha. I didn't twig that they were using a Road tub.

I imagine for those setups you don't do a whole lot of pedalling up hill?

Well, in the new year I'm gonna experiment with a ghetto set up so I'll let you know how it goes uphill. :-)
