^This. There are innocent eyes on the city streets. No one needs to see your junk - especially sans chamois.

Its the indecent nature of my Skins 3/4s, that keep me spinning the pedals so fast. I'm slightly afraid of getting arrested.

So I'm in the same boat as SF and Dan it seems. I can't cycle without wearing tights/ bib tights so I'm looking for a pair that will keep me warm during the winter (deep winter) months. Last weekend I rode with the DHB pace ones, was initially warm but soon cooled down, which means I'd like some thicker ones, probably windproof too to held with keeping the chill off.
I was sold by bib tights but since reading around I'd be happy with tights as I can wear them over my summer bibs (they are cheaper too!)
So I've been looking at the following;
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/membrane-bib-tights-7-black-id_8181417.html - Say they are good for cold weather - £49.99
http://www.tredz.co.uk/.Altura-Winter-Cruiser-Tights_28633.htm - Altura fleece lined, waterproof and thermal - £27
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pearl-izumi/amfib-tight-ec030448?utm_source=froogle&utm_medium=froogle&utm_campaign=froogle#answers - Pearl Izumi AmFIB Tight - From what I've read these are truly brilliant in the very cold weather, windproof waterproof and warm down to minus temps. £64.99
Lastly
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/pearl-izumi/elite-thl-cycle-bib-tight-ec033655#features-
- Pearl Izumi Elite Thl Cycle Bib Tight - Thermal lined and only £60 at the moment.
Any recommendations or reviews of any of these?

Anyone? Was hoping to order them today.

I imagine that if you want them for everyday - the Pearl ones will be better and last longer.
I can only recommend the dhb bib tights as that's all I've got to go on- I do, however have two pairs, bought a year apart - both are still in good condition, and the oldest pair are now 2.5 years old. Says it all really

Are the DHB ones thick enough though? I'd imagine I'll only be wearing them for another 2 months this year tops (I bloody hope!)

plenty thick for me - my legs are like tree trunks though

What ones are they exactly? The merino, tights or bib tights? I may be tempted to try a pair if they are significantly cheaper than the PI ones.

I somehow managed to get these:
http://www.wiggle.co.uk/dhb-pace-superroubaix-windproof-padded-bib-tight/
for £45 a while ago and I've been really impressed with them. It feels like your legs are insects. Keep you warm too. -

Ah I think they're the ones I've got already, they are fine but not perfect in very cold weathers.

this.
I was out in them at -5 the other day. Absolutely fine.
edit: been out in them many many times at that temp or lower and they're totally fine.

Just for a stroll and a visit to the local art gallery?

We have no local art gallery.

Culture is always best appreciated whilst one's legs are warm

Oh hang on I think I'm confused, I've only got the DHB pace ones which are fleece lined.
Have you got the DHB super roubaix ones?
-
• #146
I think I have one of each - one has a mesh back and one has a full fleecy baby-suit type thing (comes all way up to my chest) which is crazy warm on cold days
-

In cold temperatures, like what we are experiencing at the moment, a good way of keeping your legs warm is to wear a pair of knee warmers beneath the tights, giving you an extra layer where it's most beneficial.

Yep the pace ones I've got are fleece all the way up the legs and around the front and back. My only concern is that they aren't actually that thick.

That would be OK but at the moment I'm wearing bib tights so I can wear knee warmers under them without them falling down. Hopefully if I buy tights I can wear them over shorts with leg/knee warmers and I'll be nice and snug.
It looks like tomorrows plan will be to wear bib tights with running tights over the top and see how I get on.
OK I think I'm almost decided It's either these;
which are waterproof as well (Not entirely sure if I'll need them to be waterproof though!)
or these;
Or the super roubaix ones.
Or these windtex ones, which are wind proof and thermal so does that mean because they are windproof they'll be better down to lower temps than non wind proof ones?
These will go over bib shorts no problems

Reviving this thread. What are my options for padless bib tights?
-
• #150
Very unbling but I find the cheapo PX tights fine. They're the only ones I've tried. Plenty warm enough for the current weather. The feet straps are a crooked, but once you have shoes on it makes no difference...
...and tbh as long as the fit is right I can't really see that you need a great deal from a pair of padless tights.
If you want something smarter I think the Assos outlet has some in their sale.
Anyone who wears these whilst riding Londons streets please take note.
You are not on the tour. Please wear some shorts over the tights.
And before anyone objects to my request, please makes sure you are well versed in The Rules.
