You've probably decided already, but I went through the same dilemma over the summer and I'm now totally happy with 52/36 and a 28 on the rear. This was fine in the Alps and I am by no means a powerful / good rider, wasn't even really mashing up the climbs. Took a bit of getting used to overall after a couple of years of 50/34 11-25 but the inches work out as broadly similar I think. I prefer it now.
Not sure if it says on Canyon but it might be worth asking if the rear mech is long cage - the short cage ones are a bit limiting on cassette size (I haz this issue with 5800).

Thanks pal. I haven't placed an order for anything yet, but it's always good to hear individual feedback, and it sounds like you were in a very similar position!
I believe the 6800 short cage has a max of 28t, while the long cage goes out to 32t, so should be fine with the short.

Thanks pal. I haven't placed an order for anything yet.
Best to be sure as sometime it take even till June for a model to be delivered.

Their site suggests delivery between February 22 - 27 for the Large Ultimate CF Aero in black/white if ordered today, so not that bad assuming those lead times don't randomly extend too often. But I wouldn't bet on it, so you're probably right!

Take photos, and deal with them directly.
For best result, going via a LBS will yield a better result.

Hey guys, I'm just going to see what they say. This frame is only 6 months old (being NOS from 2012) so I hope they stand by my original warranty which goes till Oct 2017.

Be prepared for a long wait. I found the seat tube of my 2015 CF SLX was cracked in Oct. They agreed to replace the frame, but are still unable to tell me when I can expect it back. Service has been a joke, they can't explain what's taking so long outside "we've had problems with the factory move". Good luck!
Long time lurker, but first post. Hi all.

These Canyons sound great. You have to wait ages for one and when you get it, it breaks.
