  • A New Year Message

Just to let you know I'm still around, even though I haven't posted here recently.

The last quarter of 2015 has been an unexpectedly busy time for me, and this has taken my attention away from cycle sport. Paradoxically I did manage to dust off my racing shoes and compete in October, even winning a very minor prize (although this was mainly down to having a good pacer).

However, I still have enthusiasm and I hope to be active in 2016 - probably mainly as a reporter. I have just acquired a better camera which I hope will improve the quality of my pictures.

As you probably know, I believe that time trialling has suffered badly in recent years from a general lack of coverage in the media, most notably in Cycling Weekly, and I think that it's our responsibility to try to put this to rights. We have the opportunity today to do this through internet magazines like British Cycle Sport and Velo UK, which are pleased to receive free content: it's up to us, individuals who want to see time trialling survive and prosper, to supply the content by reporting events with which we are involved.

I have been working away at this for nearly two decades - although I hadn't got much idea what I was doing for the first few years. I have no immediate plans to give up, but I have now reached an age at which it's unlikely I can continue into the distant future and so I would like to pass on any knowledge that I have acquired to younger people who can carry the torch for a few more years.

So, if anyone's interested send me a pm.

Meanwhile, I wish success to all of you who intend to compete in 2016.

    Chris.

  • Not sure how much reporting I'll be doing, but interested to hear your findings Chris. Trust you'll be at the Hounslow 100 again this year?
