For sale: SBDU TI Raleigh trackframe JR178T 5 E in a ' Chesini " jacket

E1500,- would be fair for a complete (campy) restored bike. Posting the info you got from the SBDU guys might also help its credibility

" one thing is for sure the team bikes that were built in Ilkeston would have had SB [ special build ] in front of the frame number. I have several genuine TI Raleigh team bikes and they all have SB under the bottom bracket as well as the riders initials.
In the early days of SBDU in the period of the TI Raleigh team, team rider bikes had no SB prefix. Later team bikes had an SB number and rider initials. "

"You could put a search for Jan LeGrand and ask if he could confirm this , try Presto Cycles in Amsterdam , Jan used to work there I met him whilst working at Carlton Cycles in 1973 when he visited the factory when we built the first team bikes and I also met him at Presto cycles whilst on a trip to Holland when there to watch the 6 Day race
I suspect this could have been built in Holland by Jan Legrand whist working for Presto "

So i tried to contact Mr Raas and Mr le Grand.. but both of them want nothing to do with anything cycling related…. for months i have been talking with the son of Mr. Raas and he told me its gonna be very hard to ask him because he has no interest…..

So it's probably not a SBDU built bike then...unless I've missed something.
