  • We got our two from CHAT several years ago. They were being fostered by a rather eccentric lady who had a whole room full of kittens. We seemed to pass the positive vetting OK

  • We got ours from Celia Hammond in Brockley. Happy with the process; they came with their vaccinations and neutered etc.
I think this time of year you won't get little kittens though.

  • Celia Hammond as well.. I got a pair from them and had a pretty good experience

  • Yep another recommendation for Celia Hammond, although we didn't go with them, they were very good.

  • Thanks all.

Will give Celia Hammond a call in the new year.

  • If you're outside the catchment area for Celia Hammond then there's a Cats Protection League branch in Bromley that you might get good results with. They'll also want to do a home visit.

You could adopt Eva and Peanut! Just look at these faces! http://www.cats.org.uk/bromley/adopt-a-cat/?cid=130143

  • Apparently i'm in the catchment area for Celia Hammond so i've dropped them an email.

    Good to have a backup...

  • What's wrong with Battersea?

  • as good as they are, good luck with getting any reply from them before next Christmas. I have no doubt they work very very hard, but it's a known fact that they can be very rude, at least the front line / reception people are. They are funny with replying to any communication unless it's face to face. I have tried to set up a newspaper collection thing for them from a place where they would get rid of a fairly large amount of newspaper weekly, and it's literally about 3 mins down the road a couple of years back, it got to a point where I thought I was begging for a favour so I gave up... same goes to whenever I donate cat stuff to them. Just ordered about £80 worth of cat food to them few weeks back, asked them if they would let me know when it arrives safely, no reply. Called them after the delivery slot was gone, I got some very dismissive response - 'yap, we did... bye' A simple thank would have been nice. So be warned.

  • When a cat first has its injection, it's 2 parts, I think a couple of weeks apart. They tend to only give the 1st part and leave out the 2nd part in order to force new owners to register with a vet. If this is their open and public policy then it's fair, but in my case and many cases my vet has heard, Battersea lied. They refused to give Patch her 2nd booster before coming home with me because she had 'cat flu' which was not true, because I was told at 'check out' that she was healthy, I only found out that cat flu she was meant to have had 2 weeks after when I made a complaint. My vet said many of their ex Battersea cats also werent given the 2nd booster so they were left to pick up the piece, which is fine for the vet practice as it's all to do with money, but as far as cats welfare is concerned, is this really a good idea to be transporting a cat again within days from moving into a new home?

I think someone here just got a Battersea cat recently and the cat wasn't given the 2nd booster.

Also if the 2 weeks or however long window is missed, the 2 parts injection would have to start again for it to be effective, so potentially 3 injections in a short space of time is really shit.

  • Oh this is really disappointing. I got mine from them last year and they were brilliant- she'd had both jabs and lots of other medical stuff to boot, including really complex scans of her heart as she's got a slight murmur. The vet was excellent and very thorough and so were all the volunteers and staff I met. Sorry to hear others' experiences haven't been as good.

  • How long were you cat there for, do you know? Mine's kittens were only just given away and she was waiting to be spayed, so she was barely ready to be rehomed, like she wasn't even 'on display' yet... but she was the only mild tempered (my ass she is!) cat they had at the time, which meant she was ideal for a 1st timer. They couldn't wait to get her out of the door by making me commit to her there and then, which I was only too happy to! However, they didn't give me any time frame of either her surgery or when I could pick her up, when I left on the day. Some days later, they called me on a Thu and expected me to go pick her up at the drop of a hat, when I said I could only go on that Sun, they insisted Sat would be the deadline or I'd lose my reservation. And even questioned whether I was lying when I said I needed to be at work on that Sat... I mean what differene would another day make?

I don't know, I am glad I have met my cat, but I would never go back there again as I don't like how they rushed things through for me. Also the rehoming interview was a joke, even a serial cat killer could easily pass.

  • ..ah, the cat hammocks! Forgot about them.
Intended to give one of these to a friend of mine, alas I did only find either flimsy or pretty ugly ones.
Where did you get the one you have?
Also thought about making a nice one myself; extra padding etc. but could not be arsed yet.

  • Posted this in the digital photography thread already, but why not here as well -
met this wild cat the other day and found it pretty peculiar; the markings were really chaotic!
Realize now my picture lacks depth of field to illustrate this well but meh

  • Also this one I like, a cat I was sitting the other day..

  • We got a rescue cat that looked like that. She fucked off as soon as she was let out and never came back. Have a feeling she was wild and someone "rescued" her.

  • Get two pedigrees and stroke them with your Rolex hand

  • Great advice. Where would I be without you?

  • Fucking commoner philippe patek at the barest minimum.

  • Making social faux pas.

  • I sent my mum a hamper filled with delicious Christmas food. My cat, who lives with my mum, seems to be enjoying it.
