They're basically turning it into a Star Wars Universe - aping the Marvel model. Unbelievable cash cow for Disney - they're going to make half of what they paid Lucas back in the first film. We can expect a steady stream of movies from now on.
I think Abrams is overseeing the project, but other people will be directing the films. I'm not sure how I feel about all of this. The films are likely to be a bit hit and miss, but with more dice rolls, we might get some good stuff. Part of me thinks that being too precious about SW is what made the last set of films so awful (coupled with unrealistic expectations) - and it definitely seems that Abrams' fast and light hearted adventure film approach has gone some way towards this. Sure something will get lost, but then again the OG Star Wars films were pretty hopeful, loose and non-serious compared to other sci-fi of the same period.
I would like to go see again to make my mind up about it, but paying £30 to watch a film twice (without owning the content to rewatch at will) can >>>>>>>>

Sure you could buy it on dvd and watch it at home but is it really the same as watching on an enormous screen with top notch sound. Its not gonna be in the cinema forever, make the most of it
I don't think he's doing the next two. It's gonna be touch and go to get it right.
