Can't believe I was forced to watch television on a Sunday night for like 3 hours for this meaningless drivel. Shut it down.

Spent by whom?

What was amazing was that the ghastly tennis player came in third. Clearly the tennis lobby (Come on Tim) got their vote out strongly. I suspect that tennis could give motor sport a run for its money in terms of getting the vote out. Cycling is quite good but must have relied upon the support of others to have Wiggo elected.
I bet that posh bird was pleased to fine the one person in Britain skinnier than her to give a prize to.
Gold!

I am not a fan of tennis nor of Murray but this short documentary might explain why he looked so miserable yesterday.
Well worth watching.

Murray's a cock. He should never be forgiven for that Portugal shirt incident.
I hope he never wins Wimbledon. He'd be even less bearable than he is now.
You're either an ignoramus or a shit troller.

I can't quite get my head around this. Why are we trying to judge sports people by their personality? For obvious reasons, its not exactly their greatest quality.
Mind you, on that basis, the obvious choice for me would be Froome. Afterall, he did manage to win the toughest professional sporting event while literally being pissed on. None of the other nominees had to put up with that kind of nonsense. I know he's hardly TV/internet/social media gold but I can't bring myself to jump on the "I hate Froome" bandwagon.

What's to hate about Froome?

Why are we trying to judge sports people by their personality?
Because winners are usually dull as fuck. See: Andy Murray... oh....
How the hell didn't Lizzie win?

I was hoping some trolling internet movement would deliver Tyson Fury as the winner, who would then say something so horrendous in his acceptance that SPOTY was cancelled for ever more.

Why are we trying to judge sports people by their personality?
I'm pretty sure they meant meaning 2 of personality when they came up with the name of the show, using 'personality' to distinguish between the sporting feats embodied in one person and the sports performance of the year or sports team of the year. They didn't mean to make it a judgement of morals or temperament, simply a judgement of which single human being best embodies sporting prowess in that year. It has become corrupted by a the total dominance of the first meaning in common discourse and an increasing public obsession with judging people for what they think rather than what they do.
