• Might be cheaper for the driver to go through his insurance. I tried to claim a couple of hundred quid from a firm whose driver knocked me off a year ago and they thought that £50 would cover my costs (completely fucked h plus son to Paul components wheel). Luckily, I'm a British cycling member and I got legal help. It took a while but I got paid out and I started to feel shoulder pain a month after the accident that was due to soft tissue damage i hadn't foreseen. I got paid for injuries, new wheel, shoes and fork which was nice, although the white le process took months.

It doesn't hurt trying to see if the driver is willing to pay for your bike and loss of earnings, but be prepared to get legal help and don't dismiss your health straight away.
