  • Been playing assasins creed syndicate, it's ok so long as you don't think about the historic names they are using and how a few are 100 years apart but you meet them within 5min of eachother...

  • Went to the charity shops. Picked up Tomb Raider: Legend for a quid. Would be better if it was one of the older ones, but hey. Haven't played games in so long (except recent acquiring the SNK stuff).

    Thinkpad has no optical drive
Used mac to make disc image
    Keka to split into parts
    Micro-sd to usb it across
7zip (or something) to unzip the iso
v1.2 patch to sort crash on load
Dodgy no-cd crack/patch to get around old DRM
Played through about 45% in a sitting

Not sure if the hassle was more fun than the game, I don't remember Tomb Raider being so easy.

  • How much does it cost to buy an external CD-ROM?

  • Same as a docking/base. I'm in two minds whether I buy an old docking/base station for the thinkpad, which has a drive, rather than a standalone usb optical drive. It's not a gaming machine, anyway, so I'm loathe to buy a drive when it's going to be seldom used.

Tbh I think it was more fun the hard way anyway.

  • How cool! Guy got Danny Trejo to start in a commercial for his CS:Go kit

    https://youtu.be/krJvSi683zQ

  • What is that for? A video game knife? Huh?

  • I beleive CS:GO allows you to make ingame items. In this case a gun and knife

  • Also been playing it, seems easier then others I've played, also still has that annoying thing of sometimes not letting you off an object.

    Still good fun so far.

  • Skins. You have to win a box, then buy a key for £2.50 to unlock the box to get a random skin. There's also a market where you can buy and sell skins for real money. Knife ones are particularly hard to come buy so are worth decent cash, although almost every server now has a plugin to let you set your own knife skin anyway.

  • Going to buy a new console, either PS4 or xbone - thinking probably xbone, mainly for Tomb Raider. Any strong opinions either way?

Also, gf likes a good beat 'em up - Tekken/Mortal Kombat kind of thing - what's the current market leader in that field?

  • If you have friends that are gamers, get which ever one they play on.

  • New Tekken got arcade release earlier this year so expect Tekken to grace the console market soon enough.

Back to Fallout 4, I found a crashed spaceship this morning, then a little wanky alien didn't want to be my friend so I had to kill him. Now I have an alien blaster. Guessing ammo will be limited to what I looted, but it's convertible to run on fusion cells, so may be my pistol of choice

  • they still make arcade games? how quaint!

  • Fallout 4 - Spoiler warning.

Collected the night sighted Laser sniper rifle from the subway - brilliant! I can now inflict sighted long range mega-watts with a high rate of fire. Feels like cheating - bit like when you become a master sneak & archer in Skyrim.

Anyone opened the safe in Fallon's answering the distress call? Ouch in teh feelz etc.

  • Same. I think the problem is that they designed it with an intended way of playing but as you have so many skills available and it's open world it just makes it really easy if you use the right skills. Collecting all the helix points will be the hardest thing I think.

  • No ideas, radio are useless in Fallout.

  • You not seen my mega sniper? One shots damn near everything.

  • Hmmm now that looks like cheating.

    Spoilers:

Took out the Super Mutants in the Revere Satellite array today without power armor by 'convincing' the NPCs in the farm nearby to join the battle to draw fire whilst I sniped the 'muties with the lazer rifle across the river. Fun times.

  • ^ these aren't really spoilers. they mostly apply to bigger plot elements like how darth vader is still alive briefly in the new star wars.

  • *spoiler alert

  • Get to fuck....

  • Both me and my colleague realised that mission is much easier if you go wide around the dishes and attack from the back or the side. If you head straight to it from the farm they shoot you through the trees when you can't even see them.

  • @howard I found that one a piece of piss. I sat across the water, snipped most of them. Then ran in with a shot gun (two shot one)

  • Yeah... With the right weapon and a reasonably well levelled character that's probably what I'd have done... At night.

A daytime pitched battle with five or so NPCs vs ten super mutants was good fun though!

  • A 6 cranks laser musket is perfect for this, once crank up six times was enough to take down a legendary.

Only need 4 cranks to take down a standard mutant.

Now what I need to do is find a special version.
