They seated really easily with a high-volume track pump: so smoothly that they didn't even'pop' into place. I already took the tyres off once, so I could tidy up the tape around the valve hole ( perfectionist ) and they went up exactly the same second time around.
Going to assume that I got lucky with this rim/tyre combo ( Stans Flow EX/Maxxis 'Tubeless Ready' Minions ).
No need to re seat the bead
Downside of using the stem is
You'll break the fucking stem
You'll lose the valve core
Harder to add glitter
Did I mention losing the core?
The core will drop through the gaps in your decking never to be seen again
