I'm testing my CREE XML new gen light, that's look decent.
Running with a 10 000 mAh usb anker power bank, i should have something like 8 hours of burning time at intermediate power... -

If you get another light is there any chance I could grab the mount off you?
Annoyingly it (the mount) was on my dads bike when it got stolen.

After 6 or 7 years of reliable service, my Fenix LD20 has developed a fault whereby it turns itself off when I'm trying to switch between modes, and it won't then turn back on straight away. Time for a new light. I like to think this glowing review (from The Witham Staple, about a year ago) was referring (among other people) to me and said light, so I'm gonna get the Fenix LD22, which appears to be this year's model.
The notice doesn't say to whom 1 should address complaints about being dazzled by motor vehicle headlights. I wish i had replied to say that the motorists in question should slow down and proceed with extreme caution, and when they encounter a bicycle with a bright lamp they should slow down even further.

11 hours with my Cree and 10 000 mAh powerbank !!!
I could maybe extend this burning time at 15hours but i loose interest and cut it done as 20% battery was remaining -

I've got a light I got off DealExtreme yeeeeeeeeears ago, which has a battery pack like this:
Should I be concerned about charging it? Having seen various stories concerning unlabelled batteries catching light, blowing up etc.

I've got a similar battery pack for a magic shine copy light, I've also seen the scary images of them blowing up ! I charge in it a fire proof Lipo-safe bag that are about £5 on eBay. I also don't leave it unattended, charging overnight etc
Although the batteries are a bit ropey in terms of quality control and build I think the main danger is from the AC adapters provided which don't appear to regulate or transform the mains power or sense when the battery is fully charged. I bought a proper magic shine charger and haven't had a problem in 2 years .

Any decent, cheap, durable, waterproof, small commuter blinkies worth considering v these days? Most Cateye is shit. Everything else dies v after one winter..

Rechargable or batteries?

What is now labelled as the claud butler excaliber 7 (it was Raleigh branded when I got it) is a '3watt' (roughly 120lumens) light that slides on/off the bike really easily and the fitment of the holder is a 30 second job.
Takes 4XAAAs, 2 settings flash and main beam, the flash is as bright as the main beam and not too fast that it impedes other road users
It will also do nicely on constant for those slightly darker roads and if you're familiar with the road surface/area you can do about 14-15mph if it's completely unlit.
I've had mine for about 5 years and has being subject to monsoon like downpours and temps down to -8C and still going strong. Not the longest lasting compared to your standard blinkie by any stretch but for £8 it's a versatile light. Raleigh also did a brushed silver '1 watt' RSP job that lasts longer and is equally as weather resistant. -

Either. We have a large collection of rechargeable AA and AAA batteries already.

Why not get another rattlesnake?

Savings worth a crate of Rothaus Tannenzäpfle to be had.

Rattlesnake?

Right price :) How's the durability?
What about something Knog-ish, that wraps around the bars/post, rather than uses a mount?

You will tell us. Definitely much better then Cateye.
would be keen to see a photo, had thought about buying another exposure switch but would be interested in how much yours are likely to cost - would you be able to make me two of them?
