• Someone takes offense at the use of certain language. Said language could be seen by some as being not entirely in keeping with an inclusive community (depending on context and wording). Other people feel the need to explain why the first person is/should be offended, potentially without even knowing the offended party or the context of the language that caused offense. It's not necessary. If someone is offended, fine. Let them explain why. There's no need for anyone else to intervene unless they feel like it's a direct attack on that person or they feel offended themselves. Otherwise white knight/fedora/mansplaining etc.

  • Context: I said it's a "wincey" word but I can't fully put my finger on why. I'm not directly offended, nor am i seeking to limit other people's use of language.
    Others chime in saying they agree (agree what? I assume that it's problematic in some way).
    I ask them why. They didn't "feel the need to explain", I directly asked them to.
