This is like comparing a bmw with a Lamborghini.
Really, it's more like comparing a Guangzhou built Toyota with a Guangzhou built Honda :-)

Yes.

I'm afraid to say that although the s2 is stiff as a stiff thing and very fast, it is one of the most uncomfortable bikes I have ever ridden. The cabling made me weep too.
R5 is a million miles away, absolutely beautiful. Smooth, light, handles well, descends by itself, and stiff too.

Ha 'painful and fast'
Ladies and gents the Lamborghini Diablo of bikes
I was thinking of taking to the alps next year. I might die

it seems like everything is in some way made in China these days
Is that really a bad thing? I had a mate that worked in a Canadian Honda factory. One day he was so stoned that he accidentally trapped a bag of weed inside a door panel.

I rode it up Ventoux twice in one day. It was great (with handbuilt 32h wheels and 25c tyres).
To be honest, the roads in Europe are fantastic - that frame rides like a dream on them. The main issue was riding that bike in Kent and Surrey. Boneshaker.

That's reassuring. I want to do the 3 sides in 1 day challenge this year. Not sure about wheels because I need to lose A LOT of weight first!

In the mountains I am more worried about handling and braking going down than weight going up, and also repairs/spares when abroad. I base my wheel and tyre choice on that, so it's always handbuilts for me. Definitely no carbon clinchers.
You don't want to take anything deep to Ventoux - the clue is in the name. Low profile carbon tubs are probably the best wheels for the job, but.. tubs... -

It's my 1st Cervelo. Like it a lot. Very stiff and thankfully well looked after by its previous owner.
I love alloy frames (mainly as they're cheaper!!).

Should really finish mine off

Fixed or geared?

You see a dérailleur hanger?
-
• #117
Oops, only glanced at it.
Clearly a T3.
That'll build up nice. Do Cervelo offer a drilled fork then? -
• #118
T3 is drilled as stock I believe. T4 fork can't be drilled.
-
• #119
You planning to race on it?
-

Plenty

Excellent.
What's the top tube length like on those? I'm 6ft and ride a 58cm Scott Plasma 3ltd. I like the long top tube and run a 130 stem too.A friend used to have a p3 but couldn't get on with the length.

• #122
It's long. I'm 6'1" and this is a 56.
-
• #123
Food for thought. Would love a fixed TT bike and that T3 is lovely.

I look away for 4 hours and all this pron turns up. I believe @mdcc_tester rides a t3 and has a specific tread about his set up here https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/200470/

Do you reckon a set of DA 9000 c24 would do the job? http://www.wiggle.co.uk/shimano-dura-ace-9000-c24-clincher-wheelset/
This is like comparing a bmw with a Lamborghini. Sure the bmw is more comfortable and quite fast too...
