Mine gets washed after every ride the same as the rest of my riding kit, as far as I can tell it still works.

This. Washed once a week for a year, still gabba-ing....

Oh an I wash all my kit at 40 deg with bio washing gel/liquid and a few capfulls of that Dettol antibacterial wash stuff.

Any worry of it shrinking if you're washing at high temps and tumble drying? I always manage to shrink stuff and the Gabba fits perfectly.
