Is there a great deal between a pompino and a genesis day one?

Pompinos seem to be fairly popular on here.

For obvious reasons; frameset is cheap.

From that I take it that you'd recommend the day one over the pompino :)

Not really.

It's very much depend on your budget and preference.

Happy to pay more for the day one if it's worth the extra, thinking about getting one of the two off the peg. Seeing a lot of pompinos on here it made me think that perhaps better informed people think they're great.

I also haven't had disc brakes before and don't know how involved they are to maintain, but could soon find out obviously.

Spec wise they're very good, solid and dependable with decent brake set up.

Having owned both canti and disc day one's and an old pomp I can say I found the xl pomp too short on reach but felt much lighter to ride then the day one and think I much preferred the canti day one which rode lighter than my current disc version- saying that I am sure the disc version is totally bomb proof and a lovely smooth stable ride

I'm wanting to get into sscx but I've got 900 bucks to do it with and no current knowledge about the bikes other than the one at the local shop is 1500 and very nice. I'd like a Cinelli but don't know if that's going to be possible right now. under 22lbs, dull color, grey or black or something and in a 52cm. Can anyone give me some pointers or for sell items?

Useful information; 60mm mudguard can be fitted on one.

If you want one with disc, the State Bicycle Co Thunderbird is a full-on SSCX with carbon fork and disc.

The catch? it's a grand, and 10kg.

Easier to get the Charge Plug (10kg OTP), and spend the rest for new wheels and brake levers.
