  • Couple of episodes in and Master of None is pretty great.

    This so much.

  • I couldn't deal with Daredevil. Is this similar?

Same universe, which is mentioned (very subtly) in the series.

Really enjoyed Jessica Jones tho, especially David Tennant, they're careful when discussing rape which is a nice change from outrightly showing it.

  • I made it to episode 5 of the latest season of The Bridge, but I think I'm done. I just can't be arsed with it anymore.

Series 3? I loved the first series, and felt it should've ended then, make much more sense.

  • finished jessica jones last night. slower burning than DD and the payoff slightly less satisfying. bloke playing purple man was truly menacing and the nods to lesser known MU characters was handled well. Top theme tune as well.

Next up: Luke Cage. Sweet christmas.

  • I loved the first series, and felt it should've ended then, make much more sense.

This is true of so many, usually American, TV productions. Once they get a sniff of some half decent ratings, you can't stop them. They produce them into the ground.
In contrast to that are our so called 'quality' British productions like Sherlock or Luther, which have hiatuses of over a year, get massively hyped up and end up being meh.
Most TV is shit but we all know that deep down anyway.
I would like to see a story of a bespectacled chemistry teacher in Baltimore, who has links with the police, the unions and the press, who thinks he has cancer but is in fact a robot who hunts other robots.
Of course there should also be dragons who sit around outside a local pork butchers.

  • The Bridge is still shot beautifully, even if the plots have gone off the boil a little - I'm still enjoying Saga

  • I've watched it all and I found it enjoyable. I agree It is good photography and good sound.
I'm not sure I followed the plot that closely. I reckon I would give S04 a chance if it came about.

  • Several lumps in my throat with the season finale of The Leftovers. I didn't think they'd top season 1 but holy fuck these last few episodes have been outstanding.

  • The Bridge is still shot beautifully.

It is, especially the intro of the series series, it capture the late night city and feel perfectly well.

I wouldn't enjoyed The Bridge if it weren't for Saga.

  • Yes, it's shot beautifully, and the subtitles make you feel clever in a middle-class BBC4 sort of way, but the actual plot lines are far-fetched bullshit. If it was in english it would be laughed off the telly.
I realised I was only watching it for the nice scandinavian houses.

    Bring back Spiral.

  • It's inspired by the book, not true to the book. It's reasonably entertaining but a bit flat, apart from two or three characters. 6/10 imho - you won't wish for your hours back, but there are probably better things to watch.

  • Spiral is better it's true

  • Binging on fargo, it's really fucking good.

And it just got a lot better.
    Last one next time.
    My money's on the woman.

  • Finished Master of None over the weekend. Funny, sad. Bit like life really. #icryeverytime
Got onto Jessica Jones. Didn't finish the first episode. Awful, didn't care about any of the characters. Just can't do superhero stuff, total disconnect.

  • The missus and I are struggling through the first series - is the second better?

@croft I really liked MoN, (though I felt like I was exactly the target demographic). Was a little worried it was just going to be a re-hash of Ansari's standup routines about being a single thirthysomething, but was pleasantly surprised that it stood up on it's own. I also liked the supporting cast a lot. Struck me as quite a brave piece of writing/commissioning as the pace is often quite slow and it's not full of gags - just funny/stupid situations and observations.

  • MoN seemed badly acted and a bit stilted in the first two episodes. Does it get better?

  • I've just started Master of None and it reminds me of Louie a bit. Will probably keep going with it.

  • The missus and I are struggling through the first series - is the second better?

To be honest I barely remember the first one, just that I found Billie-Bob and Martin Freeman proper annoying.
So I would say yes, the second one is a real riot.

  • London Spy: Oh dear, more 'quality' British drama.

Why didn't M17 or whatever the fuck just kill Danny then?
Season 2, that's why but I won't be watching any more of the shit.

Oh, and a lie detector test on a man trapped in a suitcase? yeah whatever.

TLDR: Alec Guinness was superb in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy. I think I might watch that again
now that Fargo 2 has got me hot for the 70s again.

  • What the fuck was that about?

  • I thought London Spy was rubbish.

  • The new Luther is shaping up well. Doesn't seem very original but entertaining.

And you can play 'identify the bit of shoreditch' each scene is shot in

  • Holy fuck Fargo

  • As you say not very original, couple of things do the po po not need to wear gloves when picking up bits of evidence? Also did the female po po from Game of Thrones accent change mid way through from kinda street to very posh?
