  • Please tell us more about your great knowledge of Minis

  • No, he's a cunt.

  • This is exactly what @pigfarmer was doing all the way through central London in his shit brown RS6.

    But then he's a cunt.

  • Well, you can't buy an Audi unless you are a cunt - there's a little checkbox on the leasing form.

    @golgol - no offence intended

Funny how BMW has become less offensive now.

  • coking issues?

    not with this

  • Funny how BMW has become less offensive now.

Interestin innit. 15 years ago Audis were owned by pleasant, middle-class types who had money but didn't want to look too brash. Add a few bodykits, some misunderstanding of the letters GmbH, some blingy lights and a few Top Gear episodes and the brand is totally reinvented as the prime choice of estate agents everywhere.

I'm thinking I could maybe now get away with having an M3 without being judged a cunt.

Depends which vintage it is, I think.

    E30, definitely not a cunt.
    E36, pikey cunt.
And then decreasing levels of cuntitude up to the current one. If it's a CSL then not cunty at all, obvs.

  • There's people that believe buying any kind of car makes you a cunt so I wouldn't worry what people think.

On another topic all together, but still car related. I need to buy a car seat for a newborn. Has to be ISOFIX or so I believe so it can be easily fitted to rental cars (like Zipcar). Does anyone know? People in the pushchair store had no idea, which was useful.

    takes bow

  • Apologies for the Daily Fail link, but Minky posted this on Farcebook earlier on:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/article-3356378/Five-best-classic-cars-30k-Industry-insider-s-tips.html

  • Hmm. That article shows 5 cars that have gone up 100% in the last few years, so suggesting a 20% rise in the next 3 isn't exactly Madam Trelawney levels of prescience.

  • If it's a CSL then not cunty at all, obvs.

    Dunno fam.

I reckon a minty-minterson non-Evo 3.0 E36 saloon in dark green or some other subtle hue would be a very nice thing to have tucked away.

Balls to the CSL tho. I had one briefly when they didn't cost billions and it wasn't all that much better than a standard M3. In fact, I preferred the steering on a poverty spec E46 I borrowed that was on 18s. It looked worse than meh because small wheels and phoenix gold, but it steered well. The CSL is mainly Evo magazine hype. #notbitterthatisolditcheap

  • Good point. Does your rack have a light bar built in? I have the connector on the Volvo, although I've never tested it.

  • A pal of my brother was asking about cars to invest in.

I told him not to buy a car and expect it to increase in value.

Cars are like art - if you can't sell it, you've got to live with it.

  • Opel.

    Bejesus.

    Like a Wet Vette?

    Rather a Elan non?

  • One day I'll have a garage with a pit.

  • Opel GT, nice little car. like the dinky headlight action

    https://youtu.be/9SUcTPUZlRA

  • In my experience they're a massive PITA. You'll constantly be dropping things into it, it'll fill with water and be dank and unpleasant, and you'll never be able to quite reach the bits you want to fiddle with from the pit without growing some extra elbow. 2 post lift or GTFO.

  • A 2 post lift isn't exactly a viable option for a garage attached to the side of a house though.

  • This.

I haz pit. It doesn't get wet but it ain't half chilly and uncomfy and it doesn't come close to replicating the usefulness of a ramp. But like @b&d my garage won't take a lift as the ceiling is about 2.5m.

I mainly use the pit for storing rubbish that I've forgotten I own.

  • Most people probably don't have access to a garage with a high ceiling, which is why a pit will sort of solve things.

  • Can I just cut back to the CSL chat, IMO, only posers and car magazine disciples buy an E46 CSL, the SMG box is cack and totally doesn't warrant the ridiculous price versus a very nicely kept, manual E46 M3.

  • I second that - that SMG box is utter bobbins.

  • I almost went to look at an Z3 M Coupe a couple of months ago.
Luckily sense kicked in before i went and realised spending my entire life savings on an 'investment car' was a dumb idea. Especially when i'd have to pay to store it somewhere.

  • As @hoops says - as long as you've got somewhere to store these things it's great.

Fuck forking out thirty grand for something older that I'd have to keep on the street.
