Ok, so I am in love, but I'm also quite tall... But my missus, who is not tall, is in need of a bicycle. How tall should one be to ride a 53.5cm bicycle?

I'm 5.8 1/5ft and it would fit me good. From 5.7ft - 5.10ft would fit a 53.5cm frame. Maybe a bit of leeway there with seatpost / stem adjustments. Depends also on arm / leg lengh..

I am 5ft 5 and it was slightly too big for me. I would agree 5ft 7!

just make sure theres around 1-1.5 fist of seatpost above tt, so just check the bb-saddle of her current bike and compare
