the dodici isn't even that bad next to the butters KHS

I dunno, they made some pretty bad ones:

The problem with that KHS isn't the curve per se, but more so the fact that the rear wheel can't be tucked all the way into the seattube, basically making the bend pretty pointless. Still bad design, I agree.

Depends on your design requirements, the amount of clearance. I think it's more often a choice than a design flaw. There are plenty of reasons to not want rizzla clearance.

This Dodici could not have this wheelbase with a straight seattube by the way.

With the Dodici I was purely talking about the curve of the seattube not following the wheel. Can't think of a reason to not do that.
