Just so you all know, cos I'm sure you gaf, I ignored everyone's advice on trail shoes and bought Salomon Speedcross 3 GTX in the end. Only been 8 miles but I like them, genuinely waterproof but not sweat boxes, light enough and very grippy indeed, even in sludgey mud. Bit harsh on tarmac but I suppose you cant have everything and only one dinky blister after the first run.
I got a fucking hideous colourway because they were £15 cheaper than all the nice colours and I'm cheap.
Looking forward to my Christmas hols in the snowy Bavarian mountains now.
