There were also some horrendous stories of the rear suspension systems consuming bushes like wine gums.

If they havent been serviced by people who really know them (i.e. not even some main Audi dealerships) the timing chains can cause issues but if you find one thats been well looked after it shouldnt be a problem.
On the suspension front - the DRC suspension is known to leak (especially the rears) but is pretty easy to spot and although expensive to fix its not crippling.
