this is what I ended up doing, still bothers my OCD, but at least the sharpie hides some of the ugliness!
also, is there any reason putting the chain tugs on the inside of the track ends is a bad idea? the spacing seems to be 124mm, which is weird, and as these come in at about 2mm each the wheel slots in perfectly. Chainline now seems better too. @tommmmmmm did you ever notice the spacing being odd?
I do like the tugs, apart from doing what they're designed to do, they make removing the rear wheel far more difficult, good for locking up with just one lock around the frame and front wheel.
