I have to lift the front wheel ever so slightly out of the drop outs so it isn't rubbing on my Neil with 23's.
That sounds even more dangerous! I would be terrified to hit a good pump resulting in the wheel sliding further into the dropouts causing the wheel to hit the fork crown. That could end up pretty disastrously.
