  • My aunt made that for me many years ago when we were visiting them. I have never been so full in my life! Just could not stop eating it. If you liked that you may well like Castagnaccio as well.

  • Cool! Castagnaccio I don't know, but the place I ate Farinata first is Lunigiana, south of Liguria, where chestnuts feature heavily in the cuisine... so I'm guessing the name comes from Castagna. Is your aunt from that part of the world?

    They make other amazing pancake-like things there too, testaroli and panigacci, both wheat based things made on fires or in wood-ovens, and another farinata thing made from rice I can't remember the name of.

    But Farinata is my favourite. I'm making another one today, my batter is resting now.

  • My family come from Lucca in Tuscany so not too far from Liguria but chestnuts and chickpeas are quite common in Tuscan cuisine.
