  • @andy_k i think the main thing was feeling like a pain in the arse when people cooked for me.

@Bea tried vegetarian diet for six months this year and i felt so much better. less lethargic, healthier, slept better etc.
Definitely need to try and find some decent cook books and work out some good stable meals for the everyday.

  • I think after a while people get used to it and are usually quite accommodating, it doesn't hurt to point them in the right direction sometimes... or you get used to eating pasta and red sauce...

A lot of people recommend Veganomicon and Vegan with a Vengeance, I have both and they've got a whole bunch of great recipes in them but personally I found it quite hard to motivate myself to cook any of it when I first went veggie/vegan. Thug Kitchen and Vegan Yum Yum on the other hand are a bit gimicky/same-y (respectively) but possibly better to start off with. Generally the recipes are pretty straightforward and tasty - no hunting round for weird spices, collards and pomegranate molasses... both have a good selection online too so you can try some of it out without spending any £££.

  • Just remembered: free recipes by veganomicon author here. And her new book 'Isa does it' is supposed to contain simple and easy to cook recipes.

I agree @Oliver Schick about not beating oneself up if going vegan doesnt go exactly to plan.
