  • Winter road/ tour: has 38mm paselas which feel overkill.

That make sense as they're nearly 800g each.**

Something like a Marathon Supreme maybe? you can get the 35mm that's a reasonable 440g, or even the bigger 40mm one at 490g*.

The Supreme roll very well with ample grip, the Paselas are great tyres but the thread pattern make it felt a little squrimy at times.

For a lighter tyres, amey mentioned the Kojak which is 330g for the 35mm, very slick tyres with thin sidewall that helped with the comfort.

@amey would like the 650b Supreme in 50mm (as well as 42mm).

*the 40mm is my recommendation as it offer both higher resistant to puncture (bigger = lower pressure = less likely to get cut up), lighter and feel a lots faster than the 38mm Pasela.

**Scratch that, misread the information, Pasela are 440-490g in the 37mm size.

  • Cheers, all interesting stuff.

Kojak sounds good. I must admit I was expecting you to recommend a compass in 700x32/34...

Not sure there's much point in moving away from paselas for tyres around 37mm, until the pair I have are worn out!

I would still be interested in hearing real world measurements of open paves w.r.t the road bike.

Of course I recommend the Compass 38mm, the Extralight model is 360g alone, but I'm aware not everyone want to spend that much money on tyres unless they genuinely want the best.
