Looking to go 1x11. What is the cheapest (and best) way of doing this without buying a new gruppo?
Wolftooth chainring. Bigger 11s MTB cassette. MTB clutch mech and a JTEK Shiftmate for mating the 5800 shifters with the mech. Would work?
Edit: Is there even 11's Shimano MTB mech available? Lost
I had a 105 5800 mediumcage derailleur combined with a 11-32t and a compact chainset. Shimano says that derailleur only works up to 32t, but I suspect it could work with the 11s 11-40t XT m8000 cassette in a single ring setup.
Bit late but;
Chainring.
Shorten chain.
That's it.
BTW Wolftooth are awesome, but isn't necessary as any narrow/wide will work.
