  • Resurrecting a old topic here. I have a dentist question for the dentists in here!

So I got root treatment on a tooth about 2/3 months ago, the dentist done it then put a temp filling on it. I went back two weeks later she put a proper white filling in it but left it high so for a week I was like biting into this high white filling till she filed it down also when she done the filling she gave me no jag as the root was dead so I shouldn't feel pain(I didn't)

Since she filled it down I was like getting numb pain in the tooth, she said it was the root treatment settling down and could take 6 weeks or so, well that then and its still giving me this sorta dull pain it comes and goes but when I mentioned it at the various appointments after she sorta brushed it off as I've said its gonna settle.

Apart from the cost, Im worried that I'm gonna loose the tooth because the root canal maybe hasn't taken right or she hasn't done it deep enough. Is there any way this could be correct or that maybe the filling has pushed itself deeper than it should have beaucse the filling was high to begin with.

Also I've spoke to my folks/friends etc that have all had it and they say basically after it felt nothing and have had that for years....

Im gonna go back but not sure what to do as every time i said she said it xrayed fine and that it was gonna settle.

    Thanks

  • Have a few root canals. Never had pain after. The finesse for the dentist is always how deep is the inflammation. Hence from memory drill, fill tooth with medicine if necessary temporary filling, time (def. longer then two weeks, maybe two month), X-ray, check, white filling.

The latest root canal the dentist was confident enough to fill it straight away with white filling as he was sure the tooth was "dry".
