Ones only go up to 28 right? There is the 30mm s-one but it doesn't seem to have made its way to the retailers yet (I've been checking for the last couple of months)
How grippy are marathons?

Marathons are VERY grippy when installed in the right tread direction.
And you are right; not released yet: http://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=143237;menu=1000,4,22,35

Does anyone know if you can squeeze a 28mm tyre on a Giant Defy?
-
• #2255
Yes you can, from memory, 30mm as well.

Excellent. Cheers Ed.
Edit: even better. -

Actually they ran 30mm on the Giant Defy during Paris-Roubaix.

Challenge Strada Bianca Open Tubular Tyre
wiggle
(buy them they're pricey but very nice. don't buy the pagri roubaix unless you like punctures)

Challenge open tubs use the same casings as Vittoria courtesy of Lion tyres but just have shit wonky treads by comparison IME.

Just remembered GP4000s II is very big for 28mm (mine is around 30-31mm).
-
• #2261
I've not heard of anyone running them tubeless though?

Long shot I realise, but, does anybody have a Challenge Strada Bianca 30mm clincher lying around, bald, torn or whatever, just so I can measure one up on my new bike. Will pay postage and drop some coin for an ale or two. Or alternatively, if any of you work in a bike shop stocking the Giant Defy disc and Challenge strada bianca 30mm could you be so kind as to pop one on the front wheel and take a pic.
Cheers. Jon -

Im after a starter pair of tubular tyres for use on Newport indoor velodrome. I would appreciate being directed to a previous thread if there is one, or any suggestions :)

How wide do open pave come up on regular and wide rims? True 25 and 27, or something else?
I'm debating which size to use on my road bike, and whether I should just use the 27s for commuting too (instead of 28mm paselas, which are more like 26.5 on my rims).

35c kojak with latex inner tube

Had no problems with Spesh roubaix pro 30 / 32. About to try 28mm gravel kings.

How wide do open pave come up on regular and wide rims?
Add a couple of mm if you have wide rims, IDK with narrow rims.
I'd be inclined to stick with 25mm regardless of which rims you have: they use the same width tread for both tyres, so there is more sidewall exposed with the 27mm.

With Open Pave, it's actually fine with 27mm as the contact point is much wider in comparison, it's the other that's what you need to worry about (like the Corsa).
@Cupcakes, you can always get the 38mm Compass tyres, as the comfort and speed are much greater and made the Palesa felt like a Marathon Plus in comparison.
However, it's one of those tyres that you do need to keep an eyes out every once in a while, and ensure the pressure isn't too high (high = risk of puncture), for me the trade off is worth it (38mm Compass, and 42mm Grand Bois).
I advise going for 28mm, as this will oddly feel like a 23mm in comparison to what you're used to, minimum 32mm.

I currently use schwalbe ones for my commute. They are lovely but punctures galore.
Any advice on what I can get that's as grippy, good looking, but doesn't puncture so easily?
As always most most stylish.
