Is it me or does the fork have a weird curve near the rim?
-
• #104
Yeah I thought the fork looked a little odd.
-
• #105
Aye. Hadn't noticed it before, will have a look when I see it in the flesh at lbs. Still a fine bicycle.
-
• #106
wtf is going ON with those shifters?!?!?!
-
• #107
105 hydraulics. Shimano went out, sram went up, reservoirs gotta go somewhere.

Was thinking the other day about fashioning a bracket for my front light to go onto the fork crown, then found this for a fiver. Excellent.

Took the youngest, she's 9, for a little ride and play in the woods today. Lovely day, if a bit chilly, nice to spend some time just me n her on our bikes.

• #110
Nice what is the light bracket?
-
• #111
It's a Cateye fork mount bracket, fits all the Volt series of lights.

As mentioned up thread, was contemplating a switch to a Kinesis carbon pure cx fork, at about £125, crimble round the corner, easily doable. But for an extra £30 I could get Genesis cdf carbon fork and a trp spyre on the front.
Thoughts from the hive mind? -
• #113
The Genesis fork is nicer than the kinesis. Aesthetically... Not sure on weight and stuff.
I'd go for the Genesis. But I change my mind every 5 minutes... -
• #114
Me too. Genesis weighs more due to ali steerer compared to Carbon on Kinesis. But I don't concern myself with the weight of bike parts, it's never gonna be a weight weenie.

Quick mock up with my Surly Straggler fork. Hmmmm, may just buy a single Spyre and run this fork, then save pennies for the Genesis carbon fork.
-
• #116
Ordered the spyre this evenin. Will pick up Jagwire cable from lbs, and some new bartape, may as well while doing the cable, any recommendations for comfy bartape? Was considering spesh phat or odi?

Looking at after market Genesis carbon disc forks, two versions available, the 2015 version, a-c 405mm, and early version which is shorter, and probably more suitable for my Day One. So does anybody know the a-c length on the earlier cdf forks?
Cheers. Jon
edit: Genesis know. 387mm for older Croix and Day Ones. -

A few things have happened this week, finally got round to fitting new bartape, inline seatpost has been fitted, spoken with Eighteen bikes about a Croix carbon disc fork (available early January), and a pm conversation is ongoing with @coldharbour. Depending how the latter goes dictates whether I'll be on this bike for the foreseeable future or looking for summat new.
Lbs finally recieved delivery of the Kona Roadhouse, held up due to the 105 hydro levers being a bit scarce, I can honestly say it is a lovely bike, size 56 in the shop, and it's none too heavy, and may be on the wish list, along with a Niner rlt frameset. -

May need to change the name of my current project thread.
My dear lady wife picked me up from work this evening, took me straight to my lbs and got me measured up and ordered me one of these, -
• #123
A few things to change from the off. Bars will be swapped to my cowbells with black bartape, saddle will be swapped for my Spesh toupe, bigger tyres will be ordered, probably Gravel kings 28mm.
-
• #124
Awesome, did you sell the genesis?
-
• #125
Not yet. Took it off sale, but once I've got the Giant up and running and dialed in, it'll be back on the market, as a whole bike or as f/f, wheels etc.
Liking this very much.... 853, carbon, hydraulics, tubeless ready, 30mm tyres, 105/ultegra/r500 mix.
