Bottom Bracket gears are perhaps playing catchup, but only as materials have improved, there are 14 (or more) speeds now. Old ones (over a 100 years ago) were 3 speed I believe.
But then nothing is new atm bar e-shifting and I would love another thing that can run out of battery, please.
