  • That sounds fancy for dim sum.

You remind me I'm off for Dim Sum on Saturday

  • Where are you going?

  • It's a new one we've not tried before: http://www.orientlondon.com/

got some good reviews - hopefully won't be too hungover and be able to enjoy it

  • proper napkins, nice wine glasses and non-paper tablecloths? unheard of.

  • You lot will like this, Piglet to prosciutto

    Nicked off reddit

  • Fuck thats delicious.

Anyone want to help me raise 3 little piglets?

  • Masterchef was jokes last night.

"I'm 22 and a head chef. I think that putting a prawn on a piece of lettuce and then laying ketchup on top of it is cookery."

    Hmmmm.

  • "if heston can get away with this emperor's new clothes lark, so can I, now heinz or daddies..?"

  • It obviously needed moar honeycombz.

  • i suspect the vast majority of these sad sacks are chosen because they believe they can cook, but clearly can't. works for kareoke shows, why not a cooking one.

  • Went to the German Gymnasium last night, gorgeous building and swanky interiors, mood lighting. Currywurst was very nice, great sauce. I'm meat-deprived, so I got a steak additionally. Very good, perfectly done, seasoned and presented. May be the best bernaise I've ever had, not too sour, but buttery flavoured. Black forest gateau was very boozey.
Go for a date or to impress the parents or boss/client.
Wasn't cheap so don't go with alcoholics, or greedy people who orders a currywurst and a steak!

  • Currywurst was very nice, great sauce

Currywurst sauce is normally tomato ketchup with 'curry powder' (as I haven't used it for decades, I don't quite know which mixture is normally sold in Germany). Have they jazzed it up there in some way or are they actually selling that to people?

  • of course they're jazzing it up. Made from scratch.

Head Chef Bjoern Wassmuth told us a little about what to expect from the menu. As you might imagine there will be wurst on the menu - he's rather proud of the currywurst dish he has planned. Sausages have been sourced from Germany, with a recipe exclusive to the restaurant.

ps: i confess, i actually rate the heinz currywurst sauce i got in berlin...

  • The SausageMan in Lewisham does all manner of German meat products and sells curry ketchup too

  • Looks really nice, let me know what you think as I've been wanting to go for dim sum for a while

  • Pidgin was amazing.

I recommend the shit out of that place.

Set menu, everyone has the same thing. First course was some sort of celery ice with pumpernickel and blue cheese, sounds wanky, looked totally wanky, taste was totally on point. Second course was just entitled green soup but was actually turbot with these tiny sweet pickled onions and big croutons, with this delicious lurid green sauce served in a little jug for everyone to pour over their own dish. Beef wellington with iberico pork fat cooked sprouts, roasted chestnuts and chanterelles, and I don't even know what dessert was but I couldn't stop eating it.

    I shouldn't be a food critic

  • I might go there tonight as I like the sound of that.

Sorry I missed you guyz last night. I won top Boyf points though

I'll let you know about the dim sum place

  • Pidgin sounds ace, I wonder if they'd accommodate a veggie..

  • They do, they said they can always cater on the day if you're pesc or veg, but you have to notify in advance if you're vegan.

  • Definitely go if you can, this week's menu is on point.

Get the Bosozoku cocktail as well if you do, it's really nice. The G&T cocktail is very meh, doesn't taste of anything, the stout cocktail is visually great when it arrives as it's smoking and it smells intense, but the flavour is just spirity stout.

  • Thanks @NurseHolliday I'll have to check it out.

  • wanna double date? :)

  • It's really very good.

Borough wines is just opposite and the Spurstowe is round the corner as well.

  • The Meat N16 sirloin is pricey but actually very good. I couldn't bring myself to chuck ketchup on it, which I can't remember when that last happened.
