How old would the frame have to be to qualify as old?

Well. Pre 2000 would qualify for me.

I built up (what I believe to be a) 1998 Serotta CSi frame with 6800 - works really well, I love riding the bike.

i have a thread where im putting ultegra 6800 on a 1982 Raleigh 531, one thing to consider is how stiff the frame is.. if its a noodle then using 9 gears and upwards can result in the bike changing gear for you when you get out the saddle which is what happened when i fitted ultegra 6600 to a 90s Claud Butler 531

You got any photos?
How far did you go with the build? Just changing parts?

See I'm contemplating a second Raleigh the winner frame for the job. I'd be running 9x2
I believe the frame is about a 1982.

Oops! Sorry mate. Didn't realise a thread was already going
Right. First and foremost thanks to this forum I've caught both the single speed and the retro road bike bug pretty bad.
So I've been pootling about on that Raleigh for a few days now (it's not quite finished mind) It instantly made me think about setting up something similar but with modern components.
Has anyone ever done this? What's the outcome of the project? Was it any good?
this forum is fantastic by the Way. Some of the stuff on here is really cool.
