Former 'Awesome Foursome' Olympic rower Drew Ginn just broke the Aussie 24hr track record in his attempt at Marko Baloh's world record (890k). ~836.36k/519mi. Raised $32,000 for cancer charity in the process.

For those fancying something a little more entry level, does anyone fancy having a crack at the Peak Beast sometime around April, May? A full day's riding with possibly some night riding for the older/fatter riders.

Less than 100 miles?! DTM! >>>>
;)
On/off road? Oh, Composite MTB..
Maybe x-post to the MTB or Bikepacking threads. I'll probably be trying to beat pointless times/distances up and down A roads again at that time of year.

Best TT I ever road was a hardriders.
1) Because of the name.
2) Because the course was testing and fun. Bit like the Nat TT champs, good courses. You should ride some 'roadman' 'hardman' courses. Just so you can say your number 1 hardman.

Sounds good, seen this too? http://www.selfsupporteduk.net/routes/Peak200.html

Yeah, I think the route was set up by the same guy. It's on my doorstep so I'll have a crack at some point. I reckon a long 1 dayer informal race could be fun though.

Let me know if/when you do decide to do it. Hopefully in Scotland the last weekend in April but other than that I should be around and do need practice riding bikes and stuff...!

Well, now that I am slightly less likely to die from internal bleeding of the brain when I plough my skull into the road (again...) I could probably give some silly rides a pop. Maybe I should keep an eye out and bring the Tarmac out of semi-permanent retirement for what did you say? hard-on riding?

• #363
Agree. Less risk of dying cold and alone in the dark on some craggy mountainside...

Just got an email, I'm on for Highland Trail Race 2016. 540 miles, 50k feet of climbing. Lots of hike-a-bike and scottish weather.
I've never even been to scotland!

I didn`t use any hotel on the race (TransAm), so I only sleep in-door tree night, in a farm, at Newton Bike Shop and in a church... The resto of days I made vivy...
So, during tha race I only spend in food and tires! More than 1.200€

Looks amazing. Rocky as fuck though.
Also reminds me of something my dad once said to me about Scotland, "the only place in the world where you can stand on top of a mountain, knee deep in water."

Have refined my training for next year's ultracycling efforts (hopefully TCR, if I don't get in maybe turin-nice rally or some other self supported stuff in europe) to a 10% increase of distance per week (based on Hippy's advice of "ride a bit more than you do now") with every 4th week being a rest week. Probably need to sort out my diet as at the moment it's just "eat everything and hope for the best". This week is a rest week but next week is 400km.
Hoping this will be enough to get me in shape. -

Good luck with TCR. I am looking at Turin - Nice also. Pending knee damage report

I don't know if this should be here, or in his own thread... http://www.everesting.cc/
Just repeating a climb again and again until your accumulated elevation gain hits 8,848 meters. The rules are quite specific
There's even a calculator https://everesting.io where you insert the strava segment of the chosen climb and some values and estimates how much time it should take.
Really considering giving it a try next summer after the 600km brevets here in Madrid

at £4 a bottle, that's £150,000.
He'll be drinking the whole way, trust me.
