No, I just wanted to make sure we were on the right lines.
Smart trainers: Common Projects etc sit here - but M&S have a really nice similar pair for £85
Smart/Casual shoes: Grenson, Mark McNairy - generally something with a chunkier sole to avoid the dreaded Jeans and Sheux look.
Casual Shoes: Clarks Wallabees or Desert Boots fit this bill pretty nicely
Boots: A chukka boot, chelsea boot or moc toe can look good with Jean/Chinos.
The smart but not super smart shoe is also down quite a bit to how your wear them

pm'd. and thanks for the list @tenderloin - very thorough.
Whats the jeans the sheux look? -
• #4758
Makes me wanna throw away all my jeans, and shoes... just in case.

Not going to pretend I like the shoes particularly but the main problem with all of these is the trouser selection. No shoe is going to work in these conditions.

Excellent suggestions.
Asides from the summer, I aways think brown leather boots of some description are a safe and easy bet.
You can also try using contrasting laces - nothing too extreme though.
Oh and DMs seem to be back. Actually they are probably the most comfortable leather shoe you can buy.

So I like these but can't a-Ford 2k
Crocket & Jones have some and they are £400 ish, and I prefer the small brogue detail across the toe (as per the Tom Ford ones)
What other makers should I be looking at ?
I am thinking £3-400

Like very much! Sadly where did the size >44 get lost in the story?
-
• #4764
Whats the quality like ?
Price is good, for that money I could get 2 pairs in different colours.

I don't have any meermins but there are a few people on here who do.

Brilliant, but don't buy monkstraps, it's an affectation you'll go off

Precisely.
Wholecuts every time...

There's a pair of Jeffrey West moccasins in a charity shop here, typical worn condition (loads of life left). Size 7, though, dark tan. Any interest? I'm size 9 or 10, no way I can stretch them out.
Any idea of value?

Ooh. I don't think I've ever been to this thread. It all feels very posh and upmarket.
I am here as a refugee, seeking asylum from the oppressive dictatorial regime of the trainerz thread for advice on these:
http://www.colehaan.com/mens-shoes-lunargrand-2
Half trainer half choux, sensible and manly on the top, racy and muscular on the bottom, like the centaur of the footwear world.
Before I chuck many hundred $ at them, has anyone seen, held and smelt them?
Are they shit or good? True-to-size?
Many thanks and much love.

They're certainly not for this thread.
The manufacture quality will be questionable, to say the least.

croft
Can anyone suggest a relatively smart style to dress up chinos (yep) or nice denim? Not something I could wear to the office though. Always found brogues a bit clumpy. Feel like I either live in OTT office shoes or trainers.Brogues with single soles look slicker and nicer...(IMO)

@hefty I think some of them look good. Depends on how you plan on wearing them [heckler: on your feet].
Re the jeanandsheux look: they are what they are because of the tudor stylee square toe box and the three panel look. And as someone else noted it's the bleak fit of jeans they're paired with that really rams the look home. They also come in all shapes and style. Check thes bad boys out from my IG:

We don't know Ludwig. But once we've used up all the New Zealand Soles, we hope to get http://www.redcliffsslippers.co.uk soles made in size 44+.

jeanandsheux thread? i think this look has been on the ascendancy of late as a lot of offices have relaxed dress codes and jeans but not trainers are the norm. I know that in my workplace the jeanandsheux look is pretty much uniform for a certain demographic.
Agree with @Olly398 but I have my pair in black - bought for pennies from that dodgy shop off Brick Lane (halfway down Cheshire St maybe?). They go with nearly anything. In fact I think I wore them at my graduation because I didn't want to wear shiny shiny shoes.
Alternatively what about something like winklepickers? They're very smart but at the same time they don't need to be glossy dress shoe smart. My brown pair are kind of smart enough for an interview but I'm happy wearing with cords wandering round town.
