Plans on racing this?

If I was able to race certainly I wouldn't get a bike like this :)
I take it out for fast laps (for my times) every now and then tho. -

Amazing story and great pics!

Thanks! I'm really curious to see what you are planning to do with your custom frame! Is it going to have an Obree inspired geo as well?

• #133
I choose road bike geometry for my frame, seeing as I would like to use it as my regular road bike.

Would you care to elaborate a bit on the handling of the frame and more specifically on the bottom bracket flex?
As you know I am having a frame built very similar to the design of your Moser and I am trying to figure out if a connecting tube between the main tube (top tube) and the bottom bracket is required to reduce BB flex or if it is perfectly ridable as it is right now. I love the design as it is, but if your Moser exhibits a lot of flex, I might consider adding a tube.

Sure, no problem.
The frame even when out of the saddle doesn't flex at all (actually less than my Colnago C40), I'm pretty sure the geo, the narrow bb (66mm axle) and the heavy and thick tubing help a lot.
I'm not sure it will be the same with standard geo (yours seems to have standard road angles apart from the lack of main triangle) and with standard, light tubing.
I have to say my frameset weight around 3kg, it's literally a tank.
If I was you I'd put some support (as you said) between the lower part of the main tube where is meets the seat tube and on the upper part of the main tube where it meets the head tube. I'm not saying an extra tube, but at least some structural webbing.
If it was that easy to build frames without the main triangle you would see more of them around ;)About the handling what can I say... the 42cm effective "top tube" and the 90° seat tube makes it one of a kind, the rider put most of his weight over the headtube, sitting on the nose of the saddle, the legs push backwards, and not forward like a normal bike.
So I have to say, mine is not a comfy bike, it's just made to push as much as a human can, skipping comfort, handling and safety.
Your frame doesn't seem to have the same geo, apart from the absence of main triangle and lifted stays they are completely different bikes right?
Let me know if I can help you in any other way, I'm really curious to see how you will develop your project! -

One of the prototypes that Moser had during the 1994 had these sort of webbings. It might gives you an idea of what I was talking before:

A friend back home just spent the evening with Francesco Moser, and in the meanwhile he asked him some info about my frame.
According to Francesco there were just 3 of these frames made, 2 pink for himself and 1 blue for a rider in Rome (now with me).
He added that takes a big portion of luck to find such a rare piece. -

n i c e! :)
Next time tell him to ask for catalogues! :)

• #141
Pretty neat. Did he get a chance to see a poc of the build?
-
• #142
Yes he did, tomorrow I'll try to get more details from my friend!
-

I'm sure he'll be impressed. Much nicer than the pink one up the page. The benotto tape and the blue is so lush.

Is it Andrea Poli your friend?
Who managed a signature on this chromed frame?
