One of the big issues is phones. Where do you put your phone if all you're wearing is tights and a jersey? Those arm holder things are for divs.

It is a good question about where you're meant to put your phone if you have no pockets. This won't work for everyone, but I sometimes put mine in my bra, though not on a very hot day as in the summer I sweated so much that it got into my phone and I had to dry it out in uncooked rice for a couple of hours. I have a spibelt but I hate it, and I don't like putting things in the back pocket of a cycling jersey. All in all, I'd rather wear a rucksack.

I only need my phone and a door key. Everything else I have two of.
-

Door key goes in the little back pocket of my shorts or running tights. I fit the garmin in there too. I reckon I could stick my phone in there but it's only an S3 mini.

I reckon for phone/wallet/keys kind of luggage the Pete Bland bumbag is an excellent choice for someone who doesn't like carrying stuff. Specifically design for carrying map, compass, waterproofs, etc. during fell races. Good compression straps to stop things bouncing around.

Cycling jersey all day long, you can fit a bottle in the central pocket, wallet and keys in the left and phone in the right.
@Apone - this is the kind of thing I'm talking about: https://www.strava.com/activities/440653312/overview

Incidentally why do people carry a phone while running?
-
• #11990
I do when I run my commute as I need it for the rest of the day, I don't when I'm on a training run.
Some people carry one when they run because that's how they use the Strava phone app.

In case I fall over or get lost. I wish I was joking.

I've thought about it after coming across someone who needed an ambulance. I didn't have my phone with me but the person who got there just ahead of me did. If they hadn't been there to call I don't know how long it would have been for someone else to arrive.
Even on my popular running routes (Richmond Park, Putney Heath, Wimbledon Common, Thames towpath) there may be times where you don't see another person for 15 minutes, which could mean a great deal to someone in need of help.

mostly to take selfies and tweet them, but also for music and in case i need rescuing...

I didn't use my phone when I ripped my soleus but that's because I am stupid - I should have called a cab rather than hopping home.

This thread needs more running selfies.
-
• #11996
I'm now too fat to fit in a standard selfie, I'd have to use the panorama function.
-
• #11997
Yeah that all makes sense. I have wondered what I'd do in the past when running in remote woodlands without any method of contact.
-
• #11998
How on earth can your run with a bidon in your back pocket? That's nuts.
That bumbag looks daft.

I'm guessing the next few years will see Garmin release running watches with:
- Basic phone functionality (the ability to call/text) so it can be used in an emergency maybe a PAYG SIM or swapping SIMs over
- mp3 player (to either bluetooth headphones or a normal headphone socket)
- Basic phone functionality (the ability to call/text) so it can be used in an emergency maybe a PAYG SIM or swapping SIMs over
