Solution to Drilling Rear Brake Mount

Posted on
  • After researching possible solutions to drilling the back brake mount to accept an 8mm recessed screw, I discovered a nifty tool that gets the job done in a matter of minutes cleanly and without the use of files or having to reverse your brake / get a different brand brake etc.

    Tools required:

    *Electric Drill

*Angle Driver (I ordered mine from Just Off Base at this link: http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/Angle-Driver-Sealey-AK2104)

*8mm drill bit with hex end (ordered a Bosch from cyberspace, about £4)

The driver with the bit were about 1cm too deep for my frame, so I cut off this amount from the hex end of the drill to accomodate.

The rest is pretty self explanatory and took 5 minutes tops.

  • fucking amazing, clever young man!

  • Nifty, but keeping the drill square can't have been easy: how straight does the brake sit?

  • Sits dead straight. The angle of the bit would have been off if I hadn't trimmed the hex end of the bit down.
