I did a 40 mile Lundun Loop with my little Sis (she's 46). She's a Veteran Marathon/Long Distance runner but has foot injury problems at the mo so has succumbed to the lure of Cycling with her Hairy old Fixie Bro to keep her fitness levels up after consultations with her Physio.
The ol' girl dun good considering she hasn't cycled more than 10 miles in the last 10 years and was on a bouncy and knobbly 18sp MTB. Chronic daft headwind on 1st 20 miles up to London's Famous London was hard for her, she reckoned I was great to draft behind which I think is a polite way of saying 'nice one fatty'. She weighs just over 7st, I don't.

Got a few days off this week so still the weekend for me!
Shit weather saturday/sunday down here, seem to blow over today and was left with some decent sun on my face, roads still greasy as fark on shaded lanes. Quick spin out was all I could manage with a cold, still worth it:

Finally sorted the fatbike for the winter on Saturday.
Rode it to a mates house.
Crashed twice.
I obviously wasn't ready for winter cycling. But meh. Headed out for 3 hours of Base training on Sunday anyway. Falling hurts less than the turbo.
Picked a loop that kept me on quiet roads, that wouldn't have been salted. The snow was perfect. Compact but dry. It's a loop I do loads. But with a winter sparkle the scenery blew me away. Just a lovely cycling experience.

Took 3 hours vs 2 hours on the road bike.
The detour to climb the beast that is 'eikenos', on a heavy ass fatbike, through thick uncleared snow, was frankly stupid. Froze having a sit down at the top.

Ha. Just checked.
Eikenos - 1.3km, 9% average (more 12% + flat bits)
Road bike PB =6:12 mins
Fatbike in snow PB =11:34minsGonna be good training at least.

That's a fjord.
On the other side of the mountain is a fresh water lake. Freezes often in February. I plan to make a strava segment across it. -

Not a weekend ride but never mind.
Went up the west side greenway from manhattan up to cross over to the Bronx to find the Putnam Trail an old rail line that used to run from the Bronx to westchester County.looking down the Hudson
big bridge
old station in Van Courtland pk - Bronx
start of the putnam trail / S County trailway is packed mud but its only short and gives way to paved path,
nice relaxing ride.
Putnam Division line bit of history
