  • I feel violated.

  • After not having publicised a project for a while, tonight I shall hopefully be collecting one of these:

  • I await the sale thread with anticipation

  • The bloody FF29 hasn't even sold yet.

Not selling shit any more cuz no one buys. Bieks are old newz coz Wiggo and Rapha no more team sky. #trufax

  • Is it ti? Looking good!

  • building this up: a Contini aero frameset that's been repainted Cinelli laser blue -

Thinking at the moment about building it up with Athena 11v. The idea being one slightly of convenience - settling on 11 speed across the board. But I'm still not completely set on it yet though as I don't find it asthetically completely to my taste but I do like the ergonmics of the levers. Plus the cranks seem like a right faff, particularly the power torque ones.

So I'm still mulling over going with something else, 105 11V as a possibility. Or just working out some other solution for the cranks. I've a 10V alloy Record set around that could work but I'm not too sure on the compatibility of those - I read with Campagnolo 11 the rings are closer spaced than previously (narrower rings or thinner spider tabs - not too sure).

  • broke the plastic/shite shifter paddle on the alan roadie, only just back on the road,
    #bagoshite

  • It's a beautiful thing you have found there Mat ! woooo It looks like Max...

  • Gorgeous frame, but paying over the odds for a faux-retro group can >>>>>> Power Shift Ergo and Power Torque cranks? No spanx.

What does being 11 speed across all your bikes gain you (assuming this is what you mean)? Do you share wheels and cassettes?

10 speed groups are the genuine article for (relatively speaking) peanuts.

  • Not sure what's faux-retro about silver parts. I must have missed that memo.

As I'm space limited having less wheels about seems as good a reason as any to go 11 speed, a couple of good pairs with HG cassette hubs and they're good across a number of bikes.

Another idea floating about is 10 speed Campagnolo + an Ambrosia conversion cassette (HG splines, Campagnolo spacing) but I'm still a bit unsure how well they work in practise and with which hubs they work best.

  • This gonna be your winter bike? :P

  • Indeed

Threw a few bits on it last night but I'm really not sure about the colour on it at the moment (sorry @Shroom 😝) - more than likely going to strip back to bare Ti. I LOVE bare Ti.

  • On that note - what's the best stuff for stripping spray paint please lovely forum people?!

  • nitromors and a steel brush

  • Steel brush seems a little harsh....or is rattle can THAT hard?

  • yeh to be honest wont need that. nitromors jus eats the paint off. a cloth will take the majority off real easily

  • Nitromors, or oven cleaner for rattle can. Oven cleaner's much cheaper too

  • Cool, next question- where do I get nitromors from near Moorgate this lunchtime?!

  • 400 grit wet&dry sandpaper and a bucket of water, OR...
Current formula Nitromors isn't great (EU legislation limits/prohibits use of a certain ingredient, methylene chloride, that made the old formula so effective). It works, but isn't markedly better than any old own brand paint stripper.
Both won't have any methylene chloride in them.

    EDIT = Try Wilko.

  • Mate, do they even do wilko in central London?!
Off to DIY shop at lunchtime for paint stripper and a file - @Lukas, while you're here, do you have any silver 1" threadless spacers?

  • decent DIY shops should carry it or similar

  • finished ! I do not ever touch now (unless I find black Suntour SP...)

    Geliano Suntour SP
