I paid using visa debit card...could I get a refund?

Well true to form, three fake delivery tracking numbers so far. Parts overdue and bullshit coming from Velodrome shop.
Weird emails with what looks like cut n paste from Royal Mail website.
Arsehole.

Given the numerous tales of woe this thread should be made sticky.

Another email with another "unique" tracking number. The fourth one so far, I really do regret ordering from them and not checking on here first.

Request a chargeback through your bank? I'm sure that will get their attention.
-

Tell them you're getting Trading Standards involved. Also, how do they take payment? Paypal? Worldpay? Tell VS that you'll contact the payment gateway they use to make a complaint about them. That should hurry them up. Don't suffer in silence.

I used visa debit card. I looked last night and my bank can do refunds, I'll get on with it on Monday.
It's not a lot of money, £47 but that's not the point. -

£47 is a lots of money.

In spite of this thread I took a chance, as it was the only UK place I could find with an 18t Superstar. I got lucky - it was delivered promptly.

• #136
Still not here. I think I need to contact my bank.

Arrived today. Weirdly with yet another tracking number. Strange company to deal with - don't get the delay or the lies.
-
• #138
I wish I had your patience.
Never ordered from them before but it does sound like they don't actually stock and whenever order comes through, they themselves order...which may account for delay.

• #139
Kinda makes sense actually. If they put 2 weeks delivery then I'd not of minded and not been worried of being ripped off, an they wouldn't have needed to waste time sending fake tracking numbers.

I've had mixed experiences with this lot in the past, but my most recent dealings with them have convinced me never to go near them again. It does seem to be a pattern - they take your money straight away, then you hear nothing. When you query it, you get told about a non-existent despatch e-mail which must have been caught in your spam filter (nonsense). Then a whole bunch of fantasy failed deliveries and increasingly far-fetched excuses. In the end, I got my money back but it's just not worth the stress and hassle.

I ordered something last week and it arrived today. It was only a part order because this thread had put me off but I wasn't in a hurry for the item and it was the cheapest place by far.
They sent me two emails saying the order was being processed and another to say it had been shipped. I can't say I'd have anything to complain about with that. I'd try them again in the future...

The rollers I want are for sale at Velodrome Shop, and they have £20 off for Black Friday which makes them £20 cheaper than anywhere else. Do I risk it?
-
• #143
Not for £20 not worth the possible hassle,I like many would not use them after bad service .

I'd try them again in the future...
Oh thank fuck for that! now we can used them again.

This is a question and not a dig at Velodrome Shop, not just yet without an answer anyway.
Well just recently I ordered a 1/8 12t cog from velodrome shop which was received promptly last week. Upon opening the parcel I inspected the cog and it was apparent that the teeth were very narrow for a 1/8 cog. So narrow that I compared it to my other 12t cog which is a 3/32 and would you believe it the 1/8 from Velodrome Shop is identical to the 3/32 cog which I already had...
An email was fired back off to them from me informing them that I was incorrectly sent a 3/32 and I have received the reply from Velodrome Shop. They bluntly told me that it is indeed a 1/8 cog as I quote from their reply.
"It is not possible to make a 12T sprocket as thick as the other sizes so it appears a lot smaller than traditional 1/8th sprocket"
Now this seems strange to me but I have never had a 1/8 12t cog before and could not find out online if 12t cogs can come in a thicker 1/18 size.
Top marks for Velodrome Shop if they are correct but I really need to know if somebody could tell me - amibeingbull$hitted by them or not?
Cheers

Sounds like a load of arse.
Here's a 12t Sugino Gigas that looks about as thick as I'd expect an 1/8" cog to look.
-
• #147
3/32" DA cog at similar angle for comparison

"It is not possible to make a 12T sprocket as thick as the other sizes so it appears a lot smaller than traditional 1/8th sprocket"
And that would be because?
Some chains can foul the lockring on a 12t, but that's a product of the diameter of the sprocket, not how thick it is.
Perhaps this is what they are mistakenly referring to, in an effort to cover-up their cock-up?
On the upside, you did actually receive something from them...

Thanks very much M_V and Scilly for the replies. I will contact them now and look forward to their response.

I wish I had come across this thread 2 weeks ago.
That's how long it's been since I placed an order with this lot. Typically, they've given me a tracking number that doesn't actually give any information on Royal Mail's website, and to be quite honest I'm doubtful that it's even related to my package. It's probably just a number that they know never updates that they use for lying to their customers.
We're now at the stage where I've warned them that if I don't receive the helmet by Tuesday I'll be demanding a refund, which to be fair they've said they'll give me. We'll see.
My point here is, they still suck, I do not recommend ordering from them, you will be disappointed.
Fuck! I ordered a phil wood cog. Naively I believed the emails. 2 days overdue and not hopeful!
