  • So

Since i now have 3 kids I have to sell my car as the whole family doesnt fit anymore.

It eats bikes in the boot with seats down.

Its never let me down. Ever. In the 6 years ive had it its been super reliable getting us to South of France, Wales , Scotland (admitedly not very quickly). Pulled lots of other cars out of wet feilds as the 4wd works so well. Its been a really good car.

Its 1998. It has about 190k miles. Speedo is broken so it stopped counting a while ago (went through the MOT as this isnt a fail). The engine management light is on because of the sensor for the speedo, theres nothing wrong with the engine. Its not rusty, there may be a couple of tiny bubbles here and there but thats it.

Interior is very Jap 90's but pretty unbreakable so all the orig bits work. Elec windows and moonroof. Heater seats. Its manual and it has a dog guard and the full size spare wheel.

Really dont want to scrap the car as i love it so much so offering it here for the small sum of £150.

If you want a reliable run around give me a shout.

    Kev

Cheap to insure too. Costs me £300 a year.

  • Provisional dibs while I talk to my wife...

  • That's just a courtesy thing by the way. If someone comes into the thread kicking and screaming with cash then I'm not stopping you from making a quick sale, just registering my interest.

  • Following a full and frank exchange or views, my wife and I have decided to pass on this excellent offer. GLWS!

  • Bargain! Our scoob (also a Forester) doesn't get used much anymore and they are great cars.

  • Fizzy. No probs.

  • Pics for those who were interested......

  • Mega bargain for someone!

Fancy an upgrade to a Legacy Spec B?

  • Just got delivered a Citroen Grand Picasso yesterday which is ace with 3 kids but feels like an origami model next to this tank.

  • Few more details.

It got a bump a couple of years ago to the rear which did no more than push the corner of the bumper in by 3 inches but subaru official parts are so pricey the insurance wrote it off and i asked if i could keep it to repair. They said yes, so i had a used bumper fitted. No damage to the structure of the car at all. Just uneconomic to repair with the subaru bit.

It had a new cam belt fitted no more than 10k ago. Both rear bearings have been replaced in the hubs no more than 10k ago. Rear suspension was changed when i bought it, from the tempremental self levelers to more traditional springs and shocks. It has a tow bar (ive never used). It drives ok for a car that has done a few miles. Tyres have plenty of tread. Decent radio / cd. Interior is pure 90's. Condition is good for the year. When ive cleaned it properly its ok. The heated seats , power windows and powered sun roof all work fine.

Exhaust sounds a little boomy and i havent had time to take a look but the whole thing from the manifold back was changed 3 years ago so it will be a loose bracket if anything.

    Oh. Its manual. 5 speed.

    Thats about it.

We are sad to see it go and really should just scrap it but its such a solid car it deserves to carry on for a few more years yet.

  • Is it petrol or diesel? I'm still ridiculously tempted, given the price. I bet I can hide a car from my wife.

  • Will be petrol - Subaru only started making diesels recently (worlds first diesel flat-four)

  • Petrol.

  • Does it have any MOT? Sorry if I missed it in the description

  • Surely you can fit 3 kids in there. My brother, sister and I used to fit in the back of a Fiat Uno (later Fiat Tipo) and we're all tall.

  • Im quite tempted. Where is it located?

  • Yes its got an mot.

    Se7 charlton

3 car seats wont fit. Its a lap belt only in the middle back seat too.

  • £150! this thing is so legit

  • How do you mean "legit"?
Was there some doubt over its authenticity as a car which was answered by the price?

  • Props for offering such a bargain.

It got a bump a couple of years ago to the rear which did no more than push the corner of the bumper in by 3 inches but subaru official parts are so pricey the insurance wrote it off

Out of interest, is it still insurable after that?

  • You've wasted your time writing this, but I respect you for it, of course. Legitimately.

  • This has only made me more confused.

  • Currently insured with diamond.

Anyone who wants to buy i would encourage to ring and check beforehand.
Use the reg and it wont take to long.
Just trying to offer up something for people who may want a cheap car. Still.....
