I have been using Arcane bmx pedals, which are stupidly cheap (£15) for their nylon offering - less than a tenner some places, lost the link sorry. Maybe not as nice as you were thinking, but totally usable in the wet. Eventually I added some Gusset straps, and for a cheap setup they're great on the runaround bike.
